The AUDACITY of Despair

Just when you thought you knew all the political maneuverings involved in seating a U.S. president, McCain comes along with a predictably unpredictable new "low". Not only should his supporters be upset but the entire country as well!!!!!!!!! Talk about insult.

Not only was this an insult to the political process and constitution but to every business model used since...[H]e would rather put an entire nation at risk by endorsing a no-name, no-experience of relevance person to take on the responsibilities of VP of the U.S., than to wage a formidable toe-to-toe battle with his opponents.

I bet Sarah Palin is a lovely wife,wonderful mother of five, patriotic and small town political force to be reckoned with - but PLEASE don't underestimate the intelligence of Hillary Clinton's supporters or "18 million cracks" according to Palin. I must say a Hilary/Sarah debate would be quite entertaining despite evidence that the only commonality between these two women is gender...and if the logic of McCain's choice was based on the popularity of the "female factor", then it really shows how much he is anti-everything the presidential political process represents along with a blatant disrespect to his party's more viable candidates.

So Paris is going to jail...

I don't want her to go. Basically for selfish reasons. You see if justice is finally meted out fairly regardless of wealth and the best defense it can buy, imagine the new impact on the poor and
non-celebrities of the world.

I think Paris should be required to take public transportation everyday for one year to a job at motor vehicles. She should be trained to work the information desk. If she gets a poor evaluation after 6 months on the job, then she should be either required to start over or be place under house arrest for one year.

Either way she'll be tied up and out of the way for a while. And thats what everyone seems to be asking for, right? Of course the media will have to cooperate by not stalking her for continued amusement and ratings, n'est pas?

HOE- HUM

Network news is the Devil's ipod of subjective, yellow journalistic "reporting". The recent buzz about _____'s comment "....nappy headed hoes" is out of control.

First, why does it have to be a racial discourse. Many African- Americans have coarse hair which tends to nap, naturally. It is not a slur or degrading. What is degrading is the term "hoe, ho, whore". But unless my eyes deceived me, the team was multicultural.

So why then are we discussing "race" and not gender, or misogyny? A hoe by any other name is a hoe. Its meaning is relative to who and why its being used.

Are there any "hoes" on the Rutger's basketball team? Possibly. But it is also possible there are hoes at msnbc, fox, cnn, cbs, the senate and everywhere else you find people. Now do these people consider themselves "hoes"?... probably not. The only self-proclaimed "hoes" I know appeared on an episode of jerry Springer.

Secondly, this is an age-old attack, the Achilles heel for many women. Even I have to admit to have been provoked with that tag.

Finally and seriously though people, come on lets all grow up. Just because "he" said it, don't make it so. He's like candyman, or beetlejuice and even the leprechaun....he just wants to hear you say his name three times, make him "big" or let him out of the box. Let's not give him life. Send him into exile with the others who try to take the sleazy ride to fame.

Brother, keeper?

Statistically at least 80% of people are angry at any given time. Think about that. The person you pass on the street, sit next to on the bus, or interact with in your daily travels may be one of the angry. Maybe you are one of the” angry 80%”. It also seems true that strangers come together in time of crisis and duress. Katrina, the Tsunami , 911, and Columbine are a few examples of how people demonstrate capacity to interact with other in genuine caring ways. After the dust settles, its back to passing each other on streets without acknowledgement, standing in elevators together without as much as a smile, and sitting next to each other as if the other is invisible. The rest of the day or time is about us while humanity sits on the back burner reserved for the unexpected, uncontrollable catastrophic ball life serves every now and then as a wake-up call.

I Will Not Be Calling You Back Ms MCann

The reason is that I suspect you are not my friend. Why else would you call me and tell me your name but not tell me what you want. Why should I call you Ms? is that your first name because I am on first name basis with my friends and other fun people. And whats with the toll free 800 number? From my experience the only free calls are the expensive ones;-)

THERE IS NO MIDDLE CLASS

It has been said that the wealth of this country is owned by 10% of the population!!!!!!!!
That means that the other 90% are the pawns. They are the ones who give 90% of their time in service to the upper 10%. Oprah recently had a series on America’s Debt, which exposed some amazing numbers like “80%” of Americans are in debt!!!!!! Professionals like Doctors (those who specialize and are usually surgeons of some type), Pharmacists, and Attorneys in private practice or partnership; Economists, CPAs, Rocket Scientists (J) and CEO of fortune 500 firms are the 10-20%. They are the people who chair the boards of influential companies who in turn influence lobbyists who in turn influence congress who in turn influence legislation, which in turn keep the 90% in subject to them and debt. The rest of population is what we don’t like to call the “working class”.

Demystifying Immigration Reform Legislation

This really may not be the best time to seek the “American Dream”. Just ask those who are illegally employed in this country. The numbers are so large and the voices so loud that the U.S. heard them. And the U.S. answered:

• YOU WILL learn the English language.
• YOU WILL be subject to federal prosecution for breaking the current laws on the book.
• YOU WILL NOT be fast-tracked to citizenship, in fact
• YOU WILL stand behind those who have followed procedure and are still waiting after a gazillion years for that elusive green card.
• YOU WILL PAY a huge fine for your ingenuity in successfully entering the country, gaining employment and building lives for yourself and family members.
• YOU WILL NOT be granted amnesty. (This means you will be a free criminal subject to imprisonment or deportation at will of the U.S.)
